This is my amazing experience, the BET Experience! I will tell you about some of the celebs I met and how I got glam for the occasion!
Where do I begin?! A good friend of mine was like, "So I don't have anything planned for the weekend of June 25th, because that's the when the BET Awards are, is that something you might be interested in?" Inside I was screaming, but outside I kept it cool and was like, "Yes for sure! I'd love to go." Long story short (No pun intended), I ended up in Los Angeles, California at the 2017 BET Awards with Too Short as my date, on a year that had the most amazing line-up!
The day of the awards: GLAM TIME! Short asked one of his good friends to style us for the BET Awards. I had the one and only Andréa Zamora (@andreaxxamora) of @LooksLA as my MUA and stylist and @sarahlatchfordfhair as my hair stylist. They were so sweet and professional! These girls tag-teamed and were done within an hour!
We arrived on the carpet a little after 4:30 p.m., and it was just like you see on T.V. Photogs (photographers) snapping photos from all angles yelling "Look this way", "Perfect" , "Look over here beautiful!"
Being a News Reporter ya girl knows her angles! The pictures came out fiyah.
BET had this cool thing called the #BETInstacarpet where they made celebs into GIFs. According to BET.com the Digital art installation was provided by @silasveta and the Robotic camera was created by @VTprodesign. Check it out below!
So, funny story on how I landed in a picture with Too Short, Karrueche, and Floyd Mayweather. Short and I were walking down the aisle during a commercial break and passed Kae and TBE taking a pic. The Getty Images Photog all of a sudden says "Hey Too Short, get in the picture!" My immediate reaction was to jump out of the picture, like, who am I? I have no business in this photo. So, that's exactly what I did. Immediately everyone yelled at me to get back in! Next thing you know i'm posing next to the Oakland OG, Karrueche Tran 😍, and the greatest boxer of our time. EPIC!
The line-up was EVERYTHING. There were performances by Kendrick Lamar, Future, Migos, Xscape, Lil Wayne, SZA, DJ Khalid, Mary J Blige & Travis Scott, BRUNO MARS, Chris Brown and Trey Songz! I was a little salty that Beyoncé was not in attendance ,but oh so proud that she won 'Video of the Year', 'Best female R&B/pop artist', 'Viewers Choice award' and 'Video Director of the year'!
I met so many other amazing people, but that's a story for another day! BET 2017, was definitely a time to remember!
